Sue and I send our best wishes to all our Association Members, as well as your families and colleagues. These are very strange times, and we hope that despite the challenges we face in this COVID-19 world, you all have had the opportunity this summer to enjoy a little quiet time and perhaps savor some of the slower moments thrust upon all of us when outside our practice settings.
Our Association communications into late Spring were focused on the cancelation of the Annual Meeting in Chicago and the implications for the 2021 meeting at the Turnberry Resort, Aventura, just outside Miami. While we do not know what the coming months will bring, at this time our Board is cautiously optimistic that we may be able to come together and begin to share, albeit cautiously, the fellowship, collegiality, and recognition of excellence in our field for which our Association is so well known. Dear Colleagues,
We hope this update finds you happy and healthy during these unprecedented times. It is our distinct honor to serve as Program Co-Chairs for the Association's 99th Annual meeting which will take place in Miami May 15-18, 2021, at the JW Marriott Turnberry Resort.
As outlined by Don Mackay in his President’s Message, the AAPS board elected to delay the 2020 meeting by a year in an effort to maintain our members' safety while preserving the massive efforts of those involved in delivering the best scientific and social program in organized Plastic Surgery. To that end, the 2021 meeting program will remain essentially unchanged with all planned awards, special lectures, and scientific presentations carrying over from 2020. More

Please note due to a bylaws change you may now sponsor up to five (5) applicants now. If you have any questions regarding criteria, the point system, or initiating an application feel free to contact the AAPS Administrative Offices at any time.

We are pleased to announce that abstracts are now being accepted for the free paper and poster sessions of the 2021 ACAPS Winter Meeting. The meeting will be held February 27 & 28, 2021 virtually. The ACAPS Winter Meeting covers all relevant aspects of resident education, and this year the special focus is Competency-based Education in Plastic Surgery: Benefits and Challenges to Evolving Paradigms of Resident Education. This topic is even more relevant in the aftermath of the Covid-19 Pandemic and its long-term impact on the future education of plastic surgeons. We encourage resident participation, as there is no better forum than to interact with leaders in plastic surgery and discuss challenging questions regarding resident education as well as opportunities for expanded involvement in global health.
The submission deadline is September 30, 2020.
