Dear Colleagues,

As you know the COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to cancel the 2020 AAPS Annual Meeting in Chicago. The Board has had two conference calls and discussed options for the 2020 meeting that included delaying it to later in the year, having a virtual or partly virtual meeting, merging it with the 2021 meeting, delaying everything by a year or cancelling it altogether.

We had input from a number of other specialist societies who have elected to do variations of all these options. The American Surgical Association elected to delay everything by a year and that is ultimately what the AAPS Board decided to do. You should know that both Linda Phillips and I recused ourselves from the board vote. More

As our members know, as events unfolded earlier this spring, the leadership of the AAPS , which had been closely monitoring the events surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel our 2020 Annual Meeting, which had been scheduled for May 2-5, 2020 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, IL. The 99th Annual Meeting will now be held next year, at the JW Marriott Turnberry Resort in Florida, and the Centennial Meeting will be held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego in 2022.

We are in the process of updating our 2021 Annual Meeting site, where details on the 99th Annual Meeting, as well as information on early registration and housing, will be available soon.

Like the other plans, this, too, has been pushed back a year to 2022. Regardless, the production of the book has been in process since September 2019 and will continue as scheduled. Edited and spearheaded by Arun Gosain, there are five authors who have each been assigned a chapter that covers two decades of AAPS history as follows: More
