I want to wish all our AAPS Members a very happy and healthy holiday season. It has been an exciting summer and fall for our Association, kicked off of course by our incredibly successful meeting in Miami under our immediate Past President, Dr. John Persing. We came out of Miami with a number of exciting initiatives, and a sense of energy about implementing those over the year.
One very important program that the AAPS is involved in is the ICONS Project, which we are doing in partnership with the PSF. The ICONS Project is designed to preserve the rich history of plastic surgery by videotaping interviews with the giants of our specialty, and then hosting those interviews on both the Association as well as the ASPS/PSF websites. |The Development Committee urges all AAPS members who have not made your 1/10/100 pledge to do so today. We are moving ever closer to our goal of raising $5 million dollars to make the AAPS Academic Scholar Awards self-sustaining. The 1/10/100 plan makes giving simple – pledge $1,000 a year for 10 years. If every members of AAPS makes that commitment, we will have created a long-term lasting legacy of awards supporting the finest young researchers in our specialty. Where does the "100" come in? We want 100% participation.
If you would like to join your colleagues in demonstrating your support, visit the AAPS Website now and make your pledge!

AAPS is delighted to announce its continued co-sponsorship of the 2nd Annual ACAPS Winter Retreat, which this year was expanded to two days, December 6 & 7, at the O'Hare Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Illinois. The Retreat is intended to improve the skills of and increase the resources for Program Directors and Surgical Educators in Plastic Surgery. This year's program was a phenomenal success with an incredible meeting agenda focusing on the milestones update, professionalism, mentoring and teaching the teacher. It was expertly assembled by Drs. Scott Hultman and Bob Weber with further assistance from Dr. Arun Gosain from the Mentorship committee. Some of the content was videotaped and will be posted on the ACAPS website as well as PSEN.
AAPS encourages all members to consider service on an AAPS committee. Please take a look at the committee list and contact the Administrative office if you are interested in serving on a committee next year.
