Instructions for AAPS Membership Application
Each candidate must be sponsored by two Fellows of the Association. One of the sponsors should be from the candidate's community or, if this is not feasible, from the candidate's region. The membership process must be initiated by an AAPS member. Your responsibility as the requesting sponsor is to:
Application for membership may be submitted no earlier than five years following certification by either The American Board of Plastic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (in plastic surgery). Those board certified in November 2015 or before are eligible for the 2021 class. An exception to those who lack certification may be granted to outstanding plastic surgeons, foreign or domestic. The "Proposal for Membership" is to be electronically completed by the candidate. When submitted, the sponsors will be notified to complete the sponsor recommendation form. The "Proposal" must be received no later than October 1, 2020, and the sponsor letters of recommendation must be received no later than November 1 in order to be considered for 2021. Membership in the Association is by invitation only. Please contact the AAPS Administrative office (978-927-8330) if you have any questions concerning the process. Remember, as the requesting sponsor, you are ultimately responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the accompanying application. Be sure to double-check your candidate's bibliography and date of board certification as well as the "Criteria for Membership" points.
